Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher with Flood Error

We recently attended a service call for a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher that had developed a persistent flood error. Initially, the machine continued to operate despite the error, but eventually it failed to complete a cycle altogether. This type of fault is commonly caused by a hidden leak, one that slowly triggers the flood sensor over time.
The first step in our assessment was to check the circulation pump, which is responsible for moving water through the wash system. We found that the pump’s capacitor had failed, which can prevent the motor from starting properly. Fortunately, we were able to replace just the capacitor, avoiding the need to replace the entire pump, saving our customer time and money.
Next, we turned our attention to locating the source of the leak. After a careful inspection, we discovered that some external insulation on the dishwasher tank had warped slightly. This movement had caused a water inlet/vent to become dislodged. We removed a small section of the insulation and securely refitted the inlet. Additionally, we applied a bead of silicon to minor gaps around the vent area to stop any small splashes from escaping each time the machine filled.
These targeted repairs successfully resolved both the pump fault and the water leak, restoring full function to the dishwasher without requiring major part replacements.
